KAZBOT DEVELOPMEN

"KAZBOT" is a word coined by Kazuhito Maekawa, born from his desire to be an invulnerable, heroic entity, like a superhero robot, influenced by the animation and superhero series (tokusatsu) he watched in his childhood.
He created this name—KAZUHITO × ROBOT = KAZBOT—aspiring to become a "Robot of Justice" that would symbolize this quest for an "invincible presence" in the fields of craft, art, and expression, and that would continue to produce works in this spirit.
Maekawa considers it paramount that all works he creates achieve three forms of DEVELOPMENT:

  • "Historical Development" of artistic expression

  • "Market Development" for the art environment and market

  • "Artist's Development" of the individual artist

By using "DEVELOPMENT" across multiple layers—the historical evolution of the expression itself, the growth of the supporting environment, and the flourishing of individual talent—Maekawa attests that the work has achieved all three DEVELOPMENTS by affixing the label "KAZBOT DEVELOPMENT" to the back of the piece.
This philosophy and approach have been maintained since his beginnings in the 1990s.
